Frozen – A winter wonderland wedding

So, I have a confession–and this one is a little hard to admit because sometimes I think I am the only one out there….are you ready..?  I. LOVE. WINTER!  I can already hear all the boos and hisses, but really–there is nothing more beautiful and picturesque than a fresh snowfall sparkling in the sunshine…as long as I don’t have to drive in it–or shovel it, of course! ;)

There is something magical about a snowfall–and as if the folks at Disney could read my mind, they came up with an amazing little movie called “Frozen”.  Now, Frozen has been playing on a continuous loop at my house, and I couldn’t help but to daydream about how GORGEOUS a wintertime, Frozen-inspired wedding would be!  Think: Swarovski Crystals–and LOTS of them!!  Whether you are re-creating Queen Elsa’s dress or you are using them as accents on your veil, your hair, your bouquet, your nails, your aisle or your shoes–the crystals definitely bring visions of a winter wonderland filled with sparkling snowflakes.

One of the most stunning winter centerpieces I came across was thanks to Sweet Bliss Wedding.  The centerpieces not only featured flowers frozen in the center of the ice, but the sculptures were surrounded by gorgeous flowers in purples, blues and blush pinks–all perfect accents for a white winter wedding.

If the ice sculptures aren’t for you, other ideas for beautiful tablescapes and centerpieces include baby’s breath, silver or ice blue glitter tablecloths, crystal snowflakes, pine cones, white roses, carnations, and the list goes on and on–I feel like a winter wonderland themed wedding is one wedding where more really is better.  The more wintery decorations you display, the more your wedding or reception is truly transformed into a Frozen winter wonderland!

Still not completely convinced on the idea of having a winter wedding?  Here are a few of my reasons why winter really is a wedding winner:

*No need for a Backup Plan.  Sure all of the other seasons are perfect for a gorgeous outdoor wedding, but what if Mother Nature has other plans, and *gulp* rain threatens to ruin your perfect day?!  Chances are, if you are having a winter wedding, you are having it indoors.  No need for a Plan B!

*Your Tropical Destination Honeymoon will be that much sweeter. If you are planning to Honeymoon in a tropical location, what better time to lay on a beautiful, sunny beach and re-charge than in the middle of winter!?

*Your wedding will be unique.  Since winter is considered the “off-season” for weddings, the season alone will definitely make your wedding stand out.

*Venues and Vendors.  During the winter, most venues and vendors are not as busy as they are during the spring and summer (including hotels).  Since they are not juggling as many events, this means more opportunities and better service to you and your guests.

So what do you think?  What is your favorite season to have a wedding?  Are you on board with the winter wedding?  What ideas would you add for your Frozen-inspired wedding?  We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas here and on our Facebook page!

PS: If you were anything like me, you are dying to try the GORGEOUS (and yummy looking) Coco Snowball drink on my mood board.  Here is the recipe, courtesy of Meaghan Elliott Photography:

 The Recipe:
